lyrics

Verse 1
In 1724 I was pressed into the service
On a ten gun sloop called Ranger I toasted Bloody Jack
At the age of seventeen, my first man I did murder
One swift pull of the trigger, I’d shot him in the back

Chorus
We set a course for murder as we hoisted up our sails
And in our wake we left a bloody swell
No quarter and no mercy as we fired off our guns
Ten fathoms deep on the road to hell

Verse 2
We took a British trader bound for the Bahamas
We raised our bloody standard as we fired across his bow
The captain hove-to quickly and he gave up all his secrets
We relieved him of his cargo and his vengeance he avowed

Chorus

Bridge
The cannon fires through our bow I pray that Davy don’t take me now
I hold my last breath anyhow to meet my watery grave
The ocean seems to hold its breath as fifty men prepare for death
Clinging to the rigging is no place for the brave

Verse 3
The ship explodes around us in a hail of blood and timber
We resigned our souls to Neptune as we floated there for days
Rescued by a merchant bound for the Tortolas
We thanked the crew sincerely at the point of our blades

Chorus

Saints & sinners will know us well by the trail of dead left in our swell
No quarter or no mercy it's ten fathoms deep to hell
